rrandyghughes writes "In a couple of months Corsicana residents could be sitting down to a Grand Slam Breakfast when Dennys restaurant opens its doors on Highway 287. The new restaurant should be open later this Spring. Also, Office Depot should be open by this Christmas. The new store is up from Home Depot in the retail shopping area off Highway 287 and Interstate 45. Hopefully we will hear more good news in 2009 for our fair city."

I love the name I chose for my newsletter, so I got a copyright for it, and also one for Reasonable FoxSimiles. With a name like Fox, FoxTales was an easy name to come by. Duh As for the copyrights; that's a real joke. People will steal your name, your text, your photos, and just about anything else they can get by with. They change it just a tiny bit, then claim it as their own. I'm not saying the things I write are clamored after by by,journalism thieves, just that a copyright is a bit of a joke in that respect. With that said, I got both copyrights because they can be such valuable tools if you ever need to take someone to court for copyright infringement. FoxSimile" is a take off on the word facsimile; but you knew that.

In my childhood days, the April rains around Kerens always brought out the blackberries. Berries appeared in the untrodden places—in the bar ditches along the roadsides, along the pasture fence lines, at the end of the fields, near the woods and waterways, and along the railroad, most especially the south sides of the railroad embankments. The timing of the blackberry season probably varies from year to year, but I think there were usually some good pickings before the end of May. We never wrote down the season or the time, but somehow we never missed a berry crop.

southerncrossranch writes "Last week I was a sleep on a Wednesday morning when the doorbell rang and I hopped up and threw on a pair of shorts. Thinking it was probably a neighbor wanting to borrow something, I opened the door and there stood two individuals I did not recognize. One identified himself as a Secret Service agent and the other a Navarro County Sheriff officer. They wanted to come inside so I said, "Sure," sleepily allowing them in."
