Book of Proverbs
20:2, The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

Mystery: ''City Of Bones''
by Michael Connelly
The World Of Words Published: 2002; Pages: 393; Rating: Excellent

This was the first book I ever read by Michael Connelly and an excellent mystery it indeed turned out to be. Later I was to meet Michael in person at a bookstore in Houston and shake hands with him, but at the time this fellow by the name of Tinker Ivey was telling me how good his mysteries were at making you flip the pages. The Tinker man was right.

Foxtales: A Stroll Down Memory Lane
''DO NOT SAY ICEBOX PLEASE!''
Foxtales
Column by Sandra Simmons Fox

As far back as I can remember, my great grandparents, Sidney and Lula Mayo had a FRIGADAIRE refrigerator. It was in the early forties when my memories of that ‘big white wonder’ began. I would have been five or six years old then.

I vividly remember watching Aunt Giggs as she milked the cow, and walking with her back to the house as she carried the big bucket of bubble topped white liquid, back to the house. I don’t remember what she did with it after that, but I do remember seeing it in the refrigerator that stood nobly in the gigantic dining room on the East wall, North corner. I’m talking about the Old Mayo Home Place; a. two story house with dormer windows.

My Grandmother
August 20th, 2001
Kerens Tribune Columns My grandmother died this weekend. She was the one that her family always referred to as “Mimi” and the only person I have ever known at any point in time that always had an eternal smile. None of you knew her, or knew her very well, for she was a very private person that had an attention span that encompassed her family and only her family. I don’t usually struggle with the keyboard that is in front of me now, but it is late on this night and the words are difficult to produce when you are attempting to describe someone who has been such an integral part of your life from the day of your birth.

It's one of those things we don't like thinking about, but sometimes we don't have a choice.

I'm talking about protecting our lifestyle. Not about security alarms, or water sprinkling systems or locks on every door, although those things are great. What I'm talking about is the kind of safety for your horses that comes with neighbors and friends keeping an eye on things for each other. The kind of strength that comes from all of us looking out for Arabian racing. "

Foxtales: ''FOXTALE JOURNAL''
Too Soon Old. Too Late Smart..'
Foxtales
Column by Sandra Simmons Fox

This is "Part 1", that should have appeared in Kerens.com first. I got my cart before the horse. I thought I could get all my whining over with in part two; but there’s some in this one, also...just not as much. If I had a magicians hat to put magic objects into and stir briskly while making grand wishes; I’d not forget to say a big prayer while I was stirring. ( A Fantasy for sure, but if I stir long enough????

Clive Cussler
August 12th, 2001
Kerens Tribune Columns One of the most unique authors of our time had a birthday recently, turned 75 years old, and deserves some mention for the many contributions he has made to best seller lists from sea to shining sea. Have you ever heard of Clive Cussler? Have you ever heard of Dirk Pitt? Both have green eyes, both are adventurers and have a love of the sea, but one is imaginary and one is real. We will come back to that point later on in this trail of words.
