randallh writes "A friend of mine had eaten at St. Elmos Corner Store on the west side of Richland Chambers Lake and said the catfish dinner was very good. They have all you can eat catfish for $8.95 a plate on Saturday nights. Sounds great and think I will stop on over and eat fish this Saturday."

randallh writes "At the former Kmart distribution center on South Highway 45, 250 Corsicana and Navarro county residents will have new jobs in the very near future. Home Depot, the large home improvement retailer, has put the 1.4 millon square foot building back to good use. That is great news for this area. I hope to see more major companies call Corsicana, Texas home."

randallh writes "In Seven Points, Texas on Cedar Creek Lake, the Main Place Cinema will be adding two more screening rooms for the movie going public. Also a Whatz Up family entertaiment center will be going up in the not too distant future. Also a new Brookshires grocery store with a gas station will open in Seven Points in May. That is good news for an already growing area of Cedar Creek Lake in Henderson county."

randallh writes "On West Seventh in Corsicana, Texas next to the Big Lots store is a new Freds Discount store. The former building housed the Sleep Quarters retail store. I'm glad they are here. They have been open several weeks. They will be good for Corsicana and Navarro County. Come see their new store."

randallh writes "Well Bush's Chicken has pulled out of the Corsicana area. They were from Waco, Texas. But a new chicken place has come to Corsicana, Texas. Chicken Express will take the place of Bush's Chicken. As you know, Popeye's Chicken had been there before. On the restaurant front in Corsicana, I have heard that a new Cracker Barrel restaurant will be going up on Highway 287 at Highway 45 next to the new Chilis which will open this summer."

Business: Home Depot To Take Over Kmart Distribution Center

randallh writes "In the local Corsicana area on South Highway 45, the former Kmart Distribution Center will soon see a new owner. Home Depot, the home improvement company, will renovate the 1.4 millon square foot building and put it to good use. Home Depot chose Corsicana over Arlington, Texas, which is in the DFW metroplex. Home Depot will employ several hundred people at the distribution center. They already have a Home Depot store in Corsicana, Texas on the 132 acre retail site on Highway 287 next to Gander Mountain."

randallh writes "With the start of the new Chilis Restaurant not far away, I'm hoping there will be a bright start for new business in Corsicana, Texas for 2005. I'm also hoping the former SuperKmart building will see a new tenant. Also I would like to see some of the empty spaces at the College Park Mall hopefully get new retail for 2005."

Events: New England Wins Third Title In Four Years

randallh writes "This past Sunday night I watched the New England NFL team, the Patriots, out gun the Philadelphia Eagles. There is a local story too. This Bethel Johnson played high school football for the Corsicana High School Tigers. Not many months ago they had Bethel Johnson day in Corsicana, Texas. Bethel Johnson now plays for the Superbowl champions, the New England Patriots. Local high school player does good."

randallh writes "It's always nice to know our community has an early warning system in times of bad weather. Loyd Huffman, Bill Dosser, and Robert Herod do a great job of keeping Corsicana informed during spring thunderstorms. WFAA TV channel 8 in Dallas uses the Corsicana radar as well as Northland Cable TV. The radar can be viewed on Northland Cable TV channel 3."

randallh writes "It's always nice in the spring to enjoy Derrick Days in Corsicana, Texas. The chili cookoff that is held near the Daily Sun newspaper office. They also have bike races that start at Lake Halbert on the Saturday morning of Derrick Days. Plus the remodeled Palace Theatre always has great things happening."

randallh writes "In March 2005, there will be a new Target retail store in the Waxahachie towne center. Along with the new Target retail store will be a new Lowes home improvement store and a Belks department store. Other major restaurants are planned for this Ellis county town as well. "
