Local News: Corsicana Planning and Zoning Drops Ball Again

randallh writes "It seems that Dollar General wants to build a new store, but the Corsicana planning and zoning voted it down. I don't know the reason why they voted it down. Other cities in our area are glad to have business come to their town. it's a shame that a few people have the power to have things go their way. If it goes on, people in our town will spend their money elsewhere. Maybe at election time we can put people in office that want what's best for Corsicana."

randallh writes "In the near future there will be a second family Dollar Store on the east side of Corsicana, Texas facing Martin Luther King Blvd. It will be on the old Transit Mix site. The other family Dollar Store is on West Seventh Street in Corsicana."

randallh writes "In the very near future, Mother Francis Medical of Tyler will soon have a state of the art medical hospital within the city limits of Corsicana. As you know, Medical Arts Clinic was taken over by the Mother Francis Hospital system out of Tyler, the Rose City. That is great news for our area and community."

Business: New Home Depot in Bellmead, Texas

randallh writes "In the future in Bellmead, Texas, which is in the Waco city limits, there will be a new Home Depot store in at the corner of Loop 340 and Interstate 35. It will employ 150 new people. It should be open by the New Year of 2006. That is good news for the area. Walmart has a Supercenter in that area also. Walmart's Sam's Club is over there too as well as a new HEB grocery store that opened not too long ago."

randallh writes "With the Chilis restaurant open this month, there should be more growth in that area. The new Corsicana National Bank should start on their new bank branch soon. Also Holiday Inn Express motel should be building this summer. "

randallh writes "When you are out on the area lakes this Fourth of July weekend, remember to wear your life jackets. Also go to fire works shows instead of setting them off yourself. Many people have been hurt not using them right. Also the ground has been very dry this summer. So have a safe but happy Fourth of July. Remember our men and women overseas in Iraq who fight for our country so we can enjoy this special holiday."

Local News: New Football Stadium for Corsicana High School

randallh writes "Next fall of 2006 should see the Corsicana Tigers football team playing in a brand new stadium directly across from the high school on farm to market road 744. It would be a multi-use stadium with ten thousand seats and it would bring in revenue for the CISD where playoff football games could be played for local area teams. I'm very glad for my hometown, Corsicana, Texas. Go Tigers"

randallh writes "I'm not critical of my home town. but I know there is a lack of things to do in our fair city regardless if you are 19 years of age or 52. We do have the Jester Park pool during the summer, but other towns larger then we are do see a lot of our citizens and their money. Like Cedar Creek Lake over in Henderson County will soon have a family fun park at Seven Points. The Main Place Cinema over there is adding two more movie screens with stadium seating. All I'm saying is if there was more to do in town, more people would spend their money here. It's just an idea."

Anonymous writes "Up here in North Texas in the Lake Cities there will be a new Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse restaurant that will open in the future on the west side of Interstate 35 not far from the current Chilis restaurant. That is very good news for a fast growing area. Best Western Motels also has plans to open in the future here in the Lake Cities area."

randallh writes "As you know, Cracker Barrel pulled out of building a new restaurant in our area. If they had built in Corsicana it would bring in new jobs. It seems city planning dropped the ball on this one. Cracker Barrel wanted to build their restaurant their way and Corsicana planning wanted a brick building. "

The owners, Richard and Morgen Salas of Kerens report a huge interest from the surrounding communities for the clean, well stocked, fun store.
Dollar Nation carries a wide variety of quality items including fishing gear, jewelry, baby items, toys, party supplies, gifts and gift bags, stationary, greeting cards, hardware, balloons, school supplies, dishes/kitchen and bath items and so much more!
