randyghughes21 writes "In the not too distant future at the intersection of Highway 45 and East Highway 31, there will be a new store that sells Shell gasoline with a new Arbys Restaurant. That is good news for our area. I'm looking forward to the restaurant opening in a few months.
Also in other local news they have started putting up the walls for the new Cinergy Cinema in Corsicana Crossing. Hopefully by this summer the new complex will be open."

Business: New Subway Restaurant on Highway 287

randyghughes21 writes "Just directly behind Taco Bell on Highway 287, a new Subway Restaurant is taking shape. Hopefully it won't be long before the restaurant will be open. In Corsicana Crossing they are working on the Cinergy Cinema site. Maybe by late Summer or early Fall this new 8 screen complex will be open. This cinema will feature 3-D Movies with a game arcade, concession stands, and stadium seating. It will be a nice addition to the businesses already out there."

randyghughes21 writes "In the little town of Gholson, Texas north of Waco, Texas is a wonderful community. Each April 24th they have their school reunion. It is a fun day, people get to see their school and their friends they havent' seen in a year or two. They have lots of wonderful food. They also give money to help the local cemetery. They have a tightly knit community. My mom played on the girls basketball team when she went to school there. It is a wonderful place. "

Local News: SFA Alumni Association News: Barnett scholarship
sfaalumni writes "Barnett Scholarship to benefit Texas residents
The Donald Wayne Barnett Memorial Scholarship benefits a resident or native of select Texas cities and counties or a student with financial need. The scholarship honors a man who felt deep gratitude for his SFA education and wanted others to have the chances he did. His family and friends established the scholarship to benefit people like him.
Don Barnett ’62 & ’64 was born on a farm on the blackland prairie of North Central Texas in 1935 and graduated from Kerens High School, where he excelled in football. He began dating Patricia Anderson in 1956. The Barnetts marked their 52nd wedding anniversary in 2009. They are life members of the SFA Alumni Association. Don worked as a roughneck before taking more regular work in Nacogdoches to support his growing family. He earned a B.A and M.A. from SFA while working full time. He managed cafeterias at SFA until retiring in 1997. Don enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, visiting old friends in Kerens and Corsicana, and finding lost treasures."

Corsicana a great place to live and work
randyghughes21 writes "Corsicana has been my hometown for over 59 years. We have Derrick days in the Spring which honors the oil rich history of Corsicana and Navarro County. Corsicana is also the home of The Deluxe Collin Street fruitcake which is shipped worldwide each Christmas season. It is also home to Russell Stover candies on Highway 287. They are a great place to drop for a treat. Friendly people are also in this great community. I'm blessed to live in such a fine place. I think we all are."
randyghughes21 writes "It should not be long before the new Cinergy Cinema is up and running. Already they are laying the concrete foundation for the new 8 screen cinema in Corsicana Crossing. Next to Home Depot, this new cinema will be a state of the art showplace. I'm buying a ticket to the first film they show out there. Should be nice see you there on opening day. "
randyghughes21 writes "When the new Cinergy Cinema opens in Corsicana over the summer, you will be entertained. It will have a state of the art digital sound system with stadium seating, concession stands, and arcade mini-bowling. It is worth the wait. I know the rest of Corsicana is looking forward to it. I plan on being there for opening day. As Paris Hilton said, "That's Hot.""

randyghughes21 writes "Julius Flores SR. started the Old Mexican Inn in downtown Corsicana in 1941. It is now located on West Seventh street in Corsicana. Julius Flores JR. now operates his family business. It is standing room only for hungry patrons. One of the finest restaurants in this area. My favorite is the Burger Grande. Stop in to eat a great meal the next time you are in town."

News: Anglican Catholic Conference
frbob writes "The Rev. Dr. Bobby C. Hall, SSM and wife, Patricia, recently traveled to San Antonio Texas to attend a conference held at Our Lady of Atonement Catholic Church. The purpose of this meeting was to examine and discuss the recently release Apostolic Constitution dealing with groups of Anglicans coming into full sacramental communion with the Latin Rite Church in Rome. This was the first meeting of its type since the release of the Anglicanorum Coetibus by Pope Benedict XVI which provides the mechanism by which Anglican Clergy and their associated parishes will be accepted into communion with the Holy See. Priests and interested parishioners from as far away as California attended to hear Canon Lawyers and educators from the St. Joseph Foundation explain the working details of the Apostolic Constitution."

randyghughes21 writes "I'm hopeing everyone in this area will have a great Christmas. Let's not forget our military troops overseas as they defend our freedom from those who would seek to destroy it. Also remember the homeless and those who might not have as good a Christmas. Also remember the Salvation Army who does so much good this time of the year. If you can, give money to those who are down on their luck. The Salvation Army are God's Angels in this world. Give a toy so a small child might have a brighter Christmas."
randyghughes21 writes "It will be nice seeing the Christmas lights in our local park. Christmas is a special time of the year. Also remember to give to the Salvation Army. They do so much good in our community helping people out that otherwise would not have a good Christmas. Also remember to donate a toy to needy kids. Your gift of love will do so much to make their Christmas brighter."

Local News: New Retail or Business maybe for Corsicana Crossing
randyghughes21 writes "Where Home Depot now sits just off Main Street, could sometime in the future be home to a Seven Million Business that could possibly employ up to 51 workers. The road that runs by Home Depot and the other retail businesses could be extended to house other retail spots in the future. That is a fast grownig area off Highway 287 andIinterstate 45. I would like to see a Best Buy in that area. Waxahachie and Waco both have these fine stores in their area."
