kvernon writes "This post is in response to the webmaster's post regarding drugs in the city of Kerens. As a former resident of Kerens for almost 20 years, I know a fair bit about the place. The one thing that I know more than any other is that it is not a place of any interest for young people. There is nothing to do, no jobs, no social events, and for many young people, very little hope of ever getting out. This is the primary reason drugs have consumed Kerens. Granted, we have seen some improvement over the past few years with the addition of the Alumni Center and the Cotton Harvest festival, however, these are of limited import."

southerncrossranch writes "Saturday night, January 27,2007, a group calling itself the anarchist defaced First Baptist Church of Kerens. Graffitti was marked on the front door of the church and the bus barn. A $100 reward is being offered. Contact Wes Johnson or the city police with any information and it will be kept confidential. Pastor Johnson did see some of the perpetrators running from the church but did not recognize the suspects. Any information will be appreciated."

southerncrossranch writes "If anybody is looking for a horse, I have several for sale and need to get rid of them for the winter. I will make you a great deal so come by, have some coffee, play some dominos, and take home a nice horse. Ok, another thing, I am looking for a school bus to turn into a motor home. So if anyone knows of a school district getting rid of some old buses, let me know.
Merry Christmas to all."

Local News: Unclaimed Property on Texas Comptroller Website
|
|
southerncrossranch writes "On Friday, November 10, 2006, I was looking through some Texas State websites when I came across the Texas Comptroller site. That is where Carol Keeton Strayhorn is over the department, and they do the unclaimed property of Texas citizens. I put in Kerens and it pulled up list after list of folks in Kerens who have money coming to them. Some names I recognized. Some folks I go to church with, and even my church itself has nearly $100.00 coming to it. Folks, there were some of you who have several hundreds of dollars that is owed to you. So go to this site and you may be one of the lucky ones who have forgotten money coming to you or somebody you know.
All I can say is Merry Christmas."

"Mommy did God make people?"
"Yes Baby, God made people." was my response.
She sat in silence for a moment and then asked,
"Does she have a wand?"
