News: Anglican Catholic Conference
News frbob writes "The Rev. Dr. Bobby C. Hall, SSM and wife, Patricia, recently traveled to San Antonio Texas to attend a conference held at Our Lady of Atonement Catholic Church. The purpose of this meeting was to examine and discuss the recently release Apostolic Constitution dealing with groups of Anglicans coming into full sacramental communion with the Latin Rite Church in Rome. This was the first meeting of its type since the release of the Anglicanorum Coetibus by Pope Benedict XVI which provides the mechanism by which Anglican Clergy and their associated parishes will be accepted into communion with the Holy See. Priests and interested parishioners from as far away as California attended to hear Canon Lawyers and educators from the St. Joseph Foundation explain the working details of the Apostolic Constitution."

News: Are You Ready for the Digital TV Switchover?
News randyghughes21 writes "On June 12th, all the Dallas and Fort. Worth TV stations will stop broadcasting the analog TV signal and broadcast only in the digital mode. If you have an antenna based TV, you will have to have a digital converter box or a set with a digital tuner built in. The picture and sound are much better and clearer. If you have cable TV or satellite TV, you do not have to do a thing. These systems are already setup for the transition to the new broadcast system."

News: The Truth About Truancy
Notices larkcon writes "I have been one of the parents who received a note from the school stating my child was on the verge of being truant. I don't know how many of you have heard the news that the Dew principal also had this "save the ghetto school" attitude our principal has, and tried to run it like a prison, just like the principal here.

Well, here is what TEA has to say on truancy, the truth on truancy, and if you have received a letter, rest assured you are probably not the parent of a truant child. If you are found a parent of a truant child, sue the school.

TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:

This letter is intended to clarify several issues relating to truancy. The letter addresses recent state legislation regarding the enforcement of compulsory attendance and the relationship of compulsory attendance to tardiness. Please share this information with members of your staff who deal with truancy."

News: Spring Weather
News rrandyghughes writes "At this time of the year in Texas, we get stormy weather. A weatherband radio is a plus. It alerts you to local weather conditions and lets you know what is happening in your area. You can find these radios at your local Walmart Supercenter or your local Radio Shack store. They come in handy in case of a severe storm."

News: Nothing To Do In Corsicana?
News randallh writes "I'm not critical of my home town. but I know there is a lack of things to do in our fair city regardless if you are 19 years of age or 52. We do have the Jester Park pool during the summer, but other towns larger then we are do see a lot of our citizens and their money. Like Cedar Creek Lake over in Henderson County will soon have a family fun park at Seven Points. The Main Place Cinema over there is adding two more movie screens with stadium seating. All I'm saying is if there was more to do in town, more people would spend their money here. It's just an idea."
