Local News: Looking for Old Friends
Tia_Denver writes "I once lived in Kerens when I was in fifth grade. This was in 1992-93. I was just trying to see if I could find any friends that I use to have. I don't know if I can put my name on here, but it's Tiffany Edwards. We use to live outside of town in a blue and white house. I believe the man my mother married was Richard (Dicky) Robertson. I played the coronet in the band when I lived there.
If anyone remembers me I would love to hear from you."

Local News: Researching Grandad
gishpa writes "My grandparents married in 1905 in Corsicana. I found an H. H. Smith who bought land near Kerens, Texas.
Their first child, my uncle Wister, was supposedly born in Chatfield, Texas.
My grandfather, Mr. H. H. Smith, died Feb. 11, 1920 in Belton, Texas.
Three of the children, my mother was one of them, was placed in the Corsicana Home in 1922. She is the only one who had children. Five of her children were adopted. I am now trying to find anyone who might have been related to my grandfather, Mr. H. H. Smith."

Local News: Corsicana Planning and Zoning Drops Ball Again
randallh writes "It seems that Dollar General wants to build a new store, but the Corsicana planning and zoning voted it down. I don't know the reason why they voted it down. Other cities in our area are glad to have business come to their town. it's a shame that a few people have the power to have things go their way. If it goes on, people in our town will spend their money elsewhere. Maybe at election time we can put people in office that want what's best for Corsicana."

Local News: Looking For Members of the Banks Family
Anonymous writes "First of all, congratulations on a wonderful website.
In April of this year, my aunt by marriage, Freddie Slate Wilson, passed away. (Her obituary is listed on your website.) I was given the family pictures that belonged to my uncle, W. W. Wilson. Along with those, I also received pictures that were mostly of the Banks family, an old family from the Kerens and/or Bazette area. Freddie's mother was Jenny Banks. Her father was Fred Slate. Some of these pictures are very, very old. Going back almost to when photographs were first made. I would like to locate a member of the Banks family who would like to have these pictures. I don't want to give them to just anyone, but to someone who would treasure and value them and share them with other members of their family. Anyone who knows any of the Banks family can contact me at my e-mail address, by phone or write me at the address listed at the bottom of this notice. I work out of town part of the time, so if you call and I am not here, just leave a message, please. Perhaps we can make arrangements so that you can see these pictures. Thank you so much for any help that you can give me.

Local News: Have a Safe Fourth of July
randallh writes "When you are out on the area lakes this Fourth of July weekend, remember to wear your life jackets. Also go to fire works shows instead of setting them off yourself. Many people have been hurt not using them right. Also the ground has been very dry this summer. So have a safe but happy Fourth of July. Remember our men and women overseas in Iraq who fight for our country so we can enjoy this special holiday."

Local News: New Football Stadium for Corsicana High School
randallh writes "Next fall of 2006 should see the Corsicana Tigers football team playing in a brand new stadium directly across from the high school on farm to market road 744. It would be a multi-use stadium with ten thousand seats and it would bring in revenue for the CISD where playoff football games could be played for local area teams. I'm very glad for my hometown, Corsicana, Texas. Go Tigers"
