News randallh writes "In the very near future on Bosque Blvd in Waco, there will be a larger Bush's Chicken eating place. It will seat over 106 people and it will be located in a former Eckerds Drug Store. That part of Waco is really growing. The restaurant should open in early November."

Local News: Kerens Care Center Activity Director #40 in Texas to be State Certified
News Anonymous writes "Dawn Gowin, of the Chatfield-Tupelo area, was #40 in the state of Texas to be Texas State Certified as an activity professional. There are 400 activity directors in Texas and many will have to go back to school to be Texas State certified. Dawn has already completed her school. She was already certified, but as of 2006 all will have to go back to be Texas State certified and she got a jump on this completion."

Local News: New Corsicana Tiger Football Stadium
News randallh writes "The New Corsicana Tiger Football Stadium should be completed and ready for play next September 1st, 2006. It will be a multi-use stadium. It will seat 10 thousand people and have room for 12 hundred cars and trucks. The football playing field will be astroturf with an all-weather running track. That is very good news for the local high school. Something for the Corsicana Tiger fans to cheer about."

The Visiting Nurse Association needs hospice volunteers who want to help terminally ill patients and their families.

A three-day training program in volunteer hospice care will be held October 4, 5, and 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Christian Church at 805 W. Baldrige Street in Ennis. Training is provided at no cost."

Quotes So we get to my point. Surely people around here read things that
aren't on the *Officially Sanctioned Cyberpunk Reading List*. Surely we
don't (any of us) really believe that there is some big, deep political and
philosophical message in all this, do we? So if this `cyberpunk' thing is
just a term of convenience, how can somebody sell out? If cyberpunk is just a
word we use to describe a particular style and imagery in sf, how can it be
dead? Where are the profound statements that the `Movement' is or was trying
to make?
I think most of us are interested in examining and discussing literary
(and musical) works that possess a certain stylistic excellence and perhaps a
rather extreme perspective; this is what CP is all about, no? Maybe there
should be a newsgroup like, say, alt.postmodern or somthing. Something less
restrictive in scope than alt.cyberpunk.
