Local News: Help Library Replace Outdated Equipment by Donating Old Cell Phones
Notices ajohnson writes "Seven Points, Texas---December 14, 2007---Many homes in America have at least one or two old cell phones lying in a drawer or closet somewhere, doing nothing but collecting dust. Most people are unaware that cell phones such as these can be put to good use; they can be employed by organizations and businesses that use them for fundraising. One such organization is the Library at Cedar Creek Lake."

Local News: KAND Radio Leaving the Local AirWaves
News randallhughes writes "After seventy years of service to Corsicana snd Navarro Couny, KAND radio will go off the air at the end of 2007. It was a business move by the Northland Cable TV company that also owns Northland Cable TV. Perry Taylor did the local news when the radio station was Located on West Seventh Avenue. It is a sad day indeed to see this fine station go out of business. It not only has local news but also broadcasts the Corsicana Tiger Football games and Navarro College Bulldog games. I will miss it."

Local News: Digital TV -- Is It In Your Future?
News randyghughes writes "In the New Year of 2008, you may have to have a digital TV converter to hook up your older analog TV because on February 17th, 2009, the U.S. goverment is wanting to shut off the regular TV signals so broadcasters can broadcast in the digital TV mode. The older TV signals will be used for other uses public safety uses, i.e. wireless cell phones. The Dallas TV stations are broadcasting the digital TV signals now. Local News: Big Tex at the State Fair

By the way, the State Fair starts this Friday and ends on October 22nd. Gee, I can smell those Fletcher corny dogs now."

Also I look forward to the State Fair of Texas in Big D to see the animals, the people, and the auto show, both the domestic and import cars. I also start thinking about the holidays and being with family & friends."

Local News: New Kerens Library
Local Events betty writes "At long last , work has begun in earnest on the new library for the Kerens area. After a ground breaking last month, the contractor, Hays Construction Co, began work on the foundation. Presently the foundation has been poured, and work on framing has begun. The building should be finished in December or early January.

We will have six public computers with high speed internet access, pleasant surroundings for reading periodicals or checking out books, and a meeting room that will be available for classes, small meetings, or other activities. Exhibit space will be in the foyer for displays of local history or interests.

We would love to hear your suggestions for activities at our library and have you come in for a visit with us now or in the new building.

Don't forget the annual Cotton Harvest Festival is October 20. All proceeds benefit the library. "
