betty writes "At long last , work has begun in earnest on the new library for the Kerens area. After a ground breaking last month, the contractor, Hays Construction Co, began work on the foundation. Presently the foundation has been poured, and work on framing has begun. The building should be finished in December or early January.
We will have six public computers with high speed internet access, pleasant surroundings for reading periodicals or checking out books, and a meeting room that will be available for classes, small meetings, or other activities. Exhibit space will be in the foyer for displays of local history or interests.
We would love to hear your suggestions for activities at our library and have you come in for a visit with us now or in the new building.
Don't forget the annual Cotton Harvest Festival is October 20. All proceeds benefit the library. "
