randallh writes "In the next few weeks or sooner, the Burkes Retail Store will close at College Park Mall. That is a shame. Not many retail stores remain at the local mall. Since Walmart left for a newer and bigger supercenter, so did J.C. Penneys. Goodys Clothing Store still remains as does the Bealls Clothing Store. I wonder what will happen to that local Mall? We can only wait and see if new business will choose Corsicana or go some where else."

Business: New Business for East Side of Town

randallh writes "On the east side of town there will be a new family dollar store on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd just across from where the old Greyhound Bus Terminal used to be. Looks like a new strip shopping center going up? Out on highway 287 near the Shell Store, there is a sign that says Corsicana Towne Center, 30 Retail And Pad Sites. Let's hope that side of town sees new growth in the upcoming Spring Of 2006."

randallh writes "I am hoping in the future the 132 acre retail site that is the home For Gander Mountain, Chilis Restaurant, and Home Depot will see new business out there in the first half of 2006."

Business: New Collin Street Bakery on 132 Acre Retail Site

randallh writes "In the future, Collin Street Bakery will have a new retail store on the 132 acre retail site not far from Chilis Restaurant. They will also have a full scale bakery in the new 8000 square foot building where people can take out the Collin Street Bakery products. That is very good news. I hope to hear about more retail stores for that growing retail site. I hope to hear more by the end of 2006."

randallh writes "In the future you may not have to drive to Dallas or Waco to shop at a Target Store or Best Buy. They may be in our own backyard if all goes well? Corsicana could see one or two of these stores located here in the future around 2006 or the year 2007 with some major restaurants. Chilis calls the 132 acre retail project home on Highway 287 and so does Gander Mountain and Home Depot. "

randallh writes "If you have driven to Hillsboro lately and you have gone to that wonderful outlet mall, you will see a new Collin street retail store. Over there if all goes well, Collin Street Bakery hopes to put a retail store over there for good. At the same time, Collin Street Bakery and retail store on West Seventh will build a store in the near future on Highway 287. That is a fast growing area with Corsicana National Bank putting a new full service branch out there. I hope to see more out there in the very near future."

randallh writes "In the very near future, Corsicana will have a brand new hospital. Mother Francis Medical Systems Of Tyler, Texas will build a new Health Care Hospital that will include heart health care as well. The new hospital site has not been picked out yet."

Business: The Shores to be Built on Richland Chambers Lake

randallh writes "At the recent Navarro County Lake planning and zoning board meeting, "The Shores" was given a final ok by the planning board to build new residental housing. This will be the largest on Richland Chambers Lake just off Highway 287 on Spur 294. That is very good news for this 44 thousand acre lake, one of the largest in Navarro County and the State of Texas."

randallh writes "In the very near future there will be new homes on Richland Chambers Lake called "The Shores." It will include 304 new homes and it will be located on Spur 294 just off Highway 287. That is great news for the Richland Chambers Lake area. That part of the lake is a beautiful area. I see more new growth for the Richland Chambers Lake area."

randallh writes "On West Seventh Ave across from the Sirloin Stockade Restaurant, there is a new Dollar Tree dollar store where everything is under a dollar. That is great news for the Corsicana area. I'm hoping more businesses are on the way."

Business: Corsicana Planning and Zoning Drops Ball Again

randallh writes "In Corsicana, Texas on Highway 22 would have been a good place for a Dollar General store since there is little retail out there and would have brought in tax dollars to this community. I hope in the future we will put people on that planning board that are for the betterment of Corsicana. You can't keep saying no to new businesses that want to locate in this area. Maybe cooler heads will win out."

randallh writes "In downtown Corsicana, Texas there will be a new Italian restaurant, Napolis. It will be located where Jalapeno Grill use to call home. It will open sometime in November. That is great news for the local area."

Business: Ground Broken on Heritage Cove Project

randallh writes "In Gun Barrel City, ground was broken for the new retail project on Cedar Creek Lake. There will be a new LaQuinta Inn and a Golden Corral Restaurant. Also there will be a 175 unit older people housing unit with a new shopping center complex. An eight screen cinema is in the works as well as a new Bennigans Restaurant."
