Services for ollie Nadin Johnston, 85, of Trinidad were held at 10;00 a.m., Wednesday, at the
Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malakoff with Floyd Loven officiating. Burial was in the Trinidad
Cemetary.
Mrs. Johnston passed away Monday in Athens. She was born December 12, 1919 in Kerens to Lon Thomas and Margaret Ollie Scarbrough and has been a lifelong resident of the community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trinidad. She married Loyd James Johnston on April 29, 1938 in Mankin, Tx. Upon his death in 2000, they had been married for 62 years.

Mrs. Douglas was born March 4, 1908 in Cryer Creek.

Miguel passed away March 19, 2005 in Zavala County. He was born January 10, 1963 in
El Posito, Mexico to Genaro and Manula Vasquez.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Vasquez of
Trinidad:children Michael, Malissa, Lee and Stephanie Vasquez of Trinidad; parents Genaro and
Manula Vasquez of Mexico; brother Tony Vasquez of Florida and two sisters, Rosa and Carmen
Vasquez of Mexico.

Viola E. young, 94, of Corsicana, Texas passed away Wednesday, February 2nd, 2005 at the Heritage Oaks West Nursing Home. She was born July 21st, 1910 in Scotland, Texas.
Visitation was held Thursday, February 3rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Paschal Funeral Home.
Services were held Friday, February 4th at 9:00 a.m. at the Paschal Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dennis Mott officiating. Burial was held at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas.
Pallbearers were her loving friends.

Obituary: Kenneth Lee Ray

Kenneth Lee Ray, 78, passed away at home in Powell around dawn on Monday, January 24th, 2005. Mr. Ray was born February 6th, 1926, at Phillips Chapel, Navarro County, to Doss and Georgia Ray, the youngest of three children. The Ray family moved to Overton during the East Texas oil boom, but returned to Navarro County where young Kenneth began school at Powell. Mr. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific theater combat in Guam, Saipan, Okinawa, and the Phillipines; also participating in the occupation of Japan after the surrender in August/September 1945. As a landing craft pilot, Mr. Ray facilitated the beach landings of Marines and, while assigned to the U.S.S. Custer, an attack transport, witnessed the Kamikaze attacks of late World War II.

He is survived by two children, Deborah Sue Bernstein of Carbondale, Illinois and Michael W. Massey of Nashville, Tennessee; one grandchild, Craig Massey of Phoenix, Arizona; and his present wife Dottie and step-children Mike, Mitch, Steve, and Karen; fourteen step-grandchildren and ten great step-grandchildren; one brother, Etheridge Massey of San Diego, California and sister Pauline Massey Adkins of Oceanside, California, and many aunts, cousins, and friends from this area.
