Local Events rrandyghughes writes "Well, it's that time of year when the State Fair of Texas Kicks off in Dallas. Big Tex will be wearing a bright yellow shirt with new bluejeans. If you remember, Big Tex for so many years greeted Christmas visitors to the nice town of Kerens, Texas. He was a very tall Santa Claus. He now is a part of the State Fair of Texas in Fair Park in dallas. The State Fair starts up September 26th. I can smell those Fletcher corny dogs now and the tasty turkey legs."

It will take place at the Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas where the Dallas TV Show was filmed. It all happens November the 8th. Tickets have already been sold to this event. What a wonderful show. I once visited this famous ranch in North Texas. This TV show ran for several seasons.

(WACO)— The TSTC Waco Student Government Association’s program “Autism in Action” continues on Saturday, March 29, at Navarro College in Corsicana.

"Autism in Action" is a program promoting autism awareness. Started by the Student Government Association (SGA) of Texas State Technical College Waco, its focus is on helping autistic children in Region 12's educational service area create original artwork, which will be auctioned to raise money for local and national autism awareness organizations."

In this community there will be a chili cookoff in the field next to the Corsicana Daily sun newspaper office. Also there will be bicycle racing at Lake Halbert on highway 287 and boot scootin music for residents and visitors. A nice way to spend a weekend in Big C."

Squatty Pines Storytelling Festival, March 2-4, is a weekend for storytellers and story listeners to gather ‘round and share exciting and evocative stories for all ages. This year, the festival is celebrating its 10th year and features Willy Claflin, Shelly Kneupper-Tucker and the E-Flat Porch Band in one of the most accessible and easy-going story festivals in the region.

Camp Tyler, on the shores of Lake Tyler, is the setting for tale-telling, folk-singing, story-swapping and imagination-boosting workshops. The weekend begins with dinner at the camp at 5:00 pm on Friday, March 2 and a “concert” of story and song beginning at 6:30. Late night story swaps by the fireplace in the camp lodge wrap up the first day. "

The Collectors Fair is being held in conjunction with the city’s Hot Pepper Fall Fest. If you have a collection you would like to display contact the Museum office at 903-723-1914 to reserve your space. There will be no charge to display your collectibles; however display space is limited so call early to reserve your space. You can also go by the Museum at 400 S. Micheaux Ave to sign up."

This Bethel Johnson played high school football for the Corsicana High School Tigers. Not many months ago they had Bethel Johnson day in Corsicana, Texas. Bethel Johnson now plays for the Superbowl champions, the New England Patriots. Local high school player does good."
